Wedding Photography – Amie & Sam at the Beach House Restaurant, Victoria,. BC.

Wedding Photography for Amie and Sam at their Beach House Restaurant Destination Wedding.

Wedding Photography.  Amie and Sam were married on August 14th, 2014 at The Beach House Restaurant, Cordova Bay, British Columbia. Wedding Photography was by Pete Snell Photography an experienced local wedding photographer from Victoria. Amie and Sam both from the USA came to Victoria to join friends and family for their traditional jewish wedding. Although Amie was originally from Victoria this would be considered by Sam to be a destination wedding. This was Pete’s first time photographing a jewish wedding and he found it an enriching experience; everyone had so much fun from the beginning to the end on this sunny, warm day beside the sea on the grounds of The Beach House restaurant. The wedding register was signed in hebrew prior to the actual ceremony. After the ceremony the couple went into a private room and had a few minutes private time before rejoining the guests for lots of dancing and of course they were both hoisted up onto chairs and carried around the reception room with so much energy.  The Beach House was the perfect place for a smaller wedding like this. The ocean view with the long sand beach are outstanding. As usual the dinner at The Beach House was also outstanding and the staff are fantastic. I don’t think anyone who attended Amie and Sam’s wedding would have trouble recommending this establishment for a best friends wedding! Pete has shot five weddings to date at The Beach House and feels it’s about as good as it can get for wedding photography, especially later in the day when the sun sets. I wish Amie and Sam the very best in their future lives together.

Wedding Photography, Jennifer & Vasilios Wedding at the Greek Orthodox Church

Wedding Photography – Jennifer & Vasilios wedding at the greek Orthodox Church of Victoria, BC.

Jennifer and Vasilios Wedding Photography was at the Greek Orthodox Church of Victoria, British Columbia on August 16th, 2014 by Pete Snell Photography. It was a hot sunny day at the height of the summer and one of the largest weddings Pete and his second shooter Nicole Brown had ever photographed, with over 300 people mainly from the Greek Community in attendance.  The church is a must to see with elaborate decor and paintings inside. After the spectacular ceremony Jennifer and Vasilios left the church and were showered with confetti. The Limo’s drove Jennifer and Vasilios out to the Vantright fields in Central Saanich for some of the best bridal party photographs ever. The hay fields were a golden colour and contracted amazingly with Jennifer’s white wedding dress and her bridesmaids blue dresses. After the Wedding Photography was completed ( more in a North Saanich Park with extended families ) everyone headed to The Mary Winspear Cenre in Sidney for a wonderful evening of greek style celebrations! The Greek Community in Victoria is a large harmonious group of wonderful, friendly people and the wedding reception was a showcase of the rich culture.  The Greek dancing and music at the reception was fantastic. It was rumoured that later in the evening at pete and Nicole had left that everyone broke a plate per Greek tradition as part of the celebration of marriage.  Pete and Nicole wish Jennifer and Vasilios the best fortune in their lives together.

Wedding Photography – Chelsea & Shane’s Wedding at Saxe Point Point Park, Esquimalt, BC

Wedding Photography of Chelsea & Shane’s Wedding at Saxe Point Park, Esquimalt, British Columbia by Pete Snell Photography.

Wedding Photography by Pete Snell Photography . Chelsea and Shane were married on July 26th, 2014 by Marriage Commissioner Iain Hooey at Saxe Point Park, Esquimaly on July 26th, 2014. Pete and the marriage commissioner Iain Hooey had both known Chelsea for many years and both felt privileged to have been asked to be a part of Chelsea and Shane’s wedding. As expected in was a bright and sunny day in July and a perfect day to get married outdoors with a ocean backdrop. The ocean mirrored the blue sky which is clear in the first photograph on this blog! The wedding ceremony was very upbeat, as always with Iian Hooey as the marriage commissioner. Same Point Park offers a few possible locations for ceremonies and I think this particular one would be my favourite!  After the family formals we headed over to Aylard farm, East Sooke  park for some more fun photo’s with the Bridal Party. Given the distance it was a bit of a rush to get back for the reception at the Chief and Petty Officer’s mess on the Esquimalt MilitaryBase. This was a large family gathering at a very prestigious location which I think was enjoyed by all. The food at the Chief and Petty officers mess is always outstanding and one of the best venues in Greater Victoria for a formal wedding and wedding photography. Wishing Chelsea and Shane a wonderful future together.

Dustin & Yuko’s Wedding Photography, Saanich Peninsula, BC

On  June 28th 2014, Pete Snell Photography – ( wedding photography specialist ) had the the very great pleasure of  photographing Yuko and Dustin’s wedding in North Saanich , British Columbia at Dustin’s grandfathers farm. The farm was located very close to a spectacular beach as shown in the photographs. Dustin is a very talented carpenter and built the wedding arch himself to further personalize the ceremony with his beautiful bride Yuko. After the ceremony the guests, including Yuko’s parents and siblings who had travelled from Japan to see Yuko married celebrated with champagne and appetizers. Pete and the wedding party entered across to the beach for a really nice wedding photoshoot. This is one of the nicest beaches Pete has been at with a wedding party.  The wedding reception was held at the Saanich Fairgrounds in  Central Saanich. The reception hall ( one of two at the Fairgrounds ) is bright and the perfect size for a smaller intimate wedding. The hall was decorated with hanging paper birds which Yuko had personally cut out in the weeks / months preceding her wedding. Dustin and Yoko are both very talented and it was so nice to see the personal touches which they had added to their ” big day”. The multiple course dinner which was served was outstanding and enjoyed by all.  The first dance ( as shown below ) was performed with amazing skill  by both Dustin and Yuok and was a pleasure to watch. Pete wishes this lovely couple the very best in their futures together!

Norma & Ron – Destination Wedding Photography – Poet’s Cove, Pender Island, British Columbia.

On May 31st 2014 Pete Snell Photography  travelled by BC Ferries to photograph Norma and Ron’s destination wedding at Poet’s Cove Resort on Pender Island, British Columbia. It was a beautiful spring day for a small romantic destination wedding at the upscale resort at South Pender Island. Pete was able to get a few shots of Norma getting ready before the wedding ceremony which was held on the sundeck overlooking the ocean facing west. The ceremony was short but meaningful. Their were only four guests by design since the couple wanted to keep their big day as simple as possible. After the ceremony Norma and Ron celebrated with a champagne toast and appetizers before we went downstairs and used a beautiful vintage Jaguar motor car for a photo op!  We then explored the south tip of Pender island to create a few more photographic memories of Norma and Ron’s destination wedding. Norma, Ron and their friends were so much fun to work with and made Pete wish he was going to be staying over on the Island to enjoy the evenings fun. Alas Pete had to catch the 5pm Ferry back to Victoria to get ready for the following days wedding photoshoot! Pete wishes Norma and Ron the very best in their future lives together in their hometown of Sidney, British Columbia.

Julie & Thomas – Wedding Photography – Bear Mountain Westin Resort, Victoria, BC

Julie & Thomas’s Wedding Photography at the, Westin Bear Mountain Resort, Victoria, BC

Julie & Thomas’s wedding was at the beautiful Westin Bear Mountain Resort on a sunny April 26, 2014. Wedding photography was by Pete Snell Photography . The Westin Bear Mountain Resort is one of Victoria most scenic wedding venues one of Pete’s favourites. This resort has well appointed rooms which are  beautifully well lit; ideal for wedding photography. Pete photographed Julie and her lovely bridesmaids in the Penthouse Suite just before the ceremony. Thomas was waiting with his groomsmen in the outdoor wedding circle several floors below and visible from the bridal / Penthouse Suite. Julie’s dad was waiting with the young ring bearer and Julie’s dog diesel. Diesel ( a pug )  was appropriately dressed in a sharp looking tuxedo and was happy to be closely to Julie. Julie arrived a few minutes later and was walked down the isle by her father where they met with Thomas who was smiling as he received his bride to be from Julie’ s Dad. The ceremony was a happy one with lot’s of smiles and happy faces visible in the seating area. After the wedding ceremony Pete photographed the families before he and the bridal party where taken up to the 19th hole for some fun shots and a few more portraits of Julie & Thomas. The wedding reception followed and was held in the hotels ground level ballroom. The dinner, speeches, cake cutting and fun games all went well with everyone in attendance clearly having lots of fun. Pete  wishes Julie & Thomas a very long and happy life together here in Victoria and are grateful that they selected me for their wedding photography services!

Julie & Thomas- Engagement Shoot, Hatley Castle, Victoria, BC

Julie & Thomas – Engagement Shoot at Hatley Castle, Victoria, BC

Julie and Thomas’s Engagement Shoot was at the historic Hatley Castle on March 29th 2014. The engagement photo’s were taken by Pete Snell Photography. We had tried to organize the shot on two previous occasions but had to reschedule due to rain and more rain!  On this occasion the weather was perfect, the light even better and the ambience of the castle grounds was outstanding for the engagement shoot. Pete Snell was able to  use many area’s of Hatley Castles historic grounds including the Japanese gardens, Italian Gardens and in front of the main castle building. Hately Castle is one of Pete’s very favourite places in Greater Victoria given it’s numerous and beautiful colourful area’s. This photoshoot was extremely important in helping Julie and Thomas to get used to being photographed for their upcoming wedding at Bear Mountain Resort on April 26th 2014. Julie and Thomas were both very easy to photograph, they were relaxed and spontaneous; they looked like models as opposed to real people they were! I’m really looking forward to shooting Julie and Thomas’s weddings next month!!

Emily & Terry’s Wedding Photography at The Beach House Restaurant, Victoria, British Columbia.

Wedding Photography. On April 22nd 2104, Emily and Terry had their wedding reception and at The Beach House Restaurant, Cordoba Bay Road, Victoria, BC. Wedding Photography was by Pete Snell Photography.  Pete met Emily and Terry at The Sidney Pier earlier in the afternoon for some photographs with their Bridal Party then some romantic photographs of  lovely bride and groom alone. It was a sunny but chillingly cold day out on the Sidney Pier. Pete was very impressed with the ladies not even mentioning the bone chilling cold while only wearing light dresses with no their coats on.Wedding photography with this couple was a lot of fun!   Pete didn’t dare mention that he was cold!! After this portion of the wedding photography Pete met Emily and Terry for a photo session on the beach behind the beach house in Saanich where he shot lot’s more photographs of Terry and Emily along the tideline followed by formals images of Terry and Emily’s’ family and close friends. Terry and Emily were a lot of fun to work with throughout the day. The reception was enjoyed by all with interesting speeches, great food, games, dancing  and cake cutting. Pete wishes Emily and Terry the very best in their new life together.

JF & Jill’s Destination Wedding , Montego Bay, Jamaica

Destination Wedding : Secret’s Wild Orchid Resort, Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Jill & JF along with their friends, family and destination wedding photographer Pete Snell, left Victoria, BC and other parts of Canada on Saturday, November 9th, 2013. They flew to Toronto International Airport where we met other family and friends who were guests of  Jill & JF’S destination wedding. From Toronto we flew directly to Montego Bay’s Sangester International Airportfrom which we were transported to the beautifully stunning place to shoot their destination wedding at the  Secret’s Wild Orchid Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Destination Wedding: First Week

During the few days, the group relaxed at the resort and visited a few local attractions for some sightseeing, snorkelled and other activities within the resort. One afternoon was set aside as ” games day” and all of the guests competed in various fun games on the beach. We were lucky enough to be included in the fun and even won a medal – thanks to my talented team members!  By Thursday, everyone was thoroughly relaxed and ready for Jill & JF’S big day. The wedding ceremony was located on the beach next to the warm Caribbean Ocean. The couple got married, as you can see in the first picture in their bear feet; they both looked radiant, relaxed and happy! As a destination wedding photographer this was the most beautiful Caribbean weddings that I have ever shot!

After The Wedding

After the wedding ceremony, I took the family formal photo’s then more of Jill & JF with their bridal party on the beach.  The beach wedding reception followed which was wonderfully catered by the Secrets Wild Orchid staff. Speeches, fun pictures with sparklers, dancing and socializing followed during the evening. The next day was spent relaxing on the beach and around the resort before nearly everyone returned home to various parts of Canada. Over the week I have grown to really like Jill, JF and their friends and family from both sides. I will always remember this wedding and wish Jill & JF the very best in their lives together! It was such a privilege for me to have been part of this wonderful week in Montego Bay.

Note** The travel agent Tracy Innes of Global Holiday Escapes who looked after the travel arrangements was was amazing; she was efficient and super nice to deal with. I highly recommend Traci and will use her myself when future organizing trips.
