Boy’s Family Portrait – Island View Beach, Central Saanich, BC

Boy’s Family Portrait Session, Island View Beach, Central Saanich, BC

Family Portrait Photography.  Pete Snell was commissioned to create a family portrait for the Boy’s family. Island View Beach in Central Saanich was chosen along with their private residence in North Saanich where we worked to create spectacular images of  the Boy’s family.  Although the day was overcast with some fog in places this wall piece was created for them. Pete had fun with this family first shooting various groupings at Island View Beach including some near the waterline. Afterwards we all went back to their home and created some images in front of their house and in the back garden area. After a portrait session Pete will visit the family at a time mutually convenient and project the days images into a large screen so the  family can choose which ones they would like to purchase.

Chantal & Truon’s Wedding Photography at the Inn at Laurel Point, Victoria, BC

Chantal & Truon’s wedding was at the beautiful Laurel Point Inn on a sunny October 5th, 2013. Wedding photography was by Pete Snell Photography and his second shooter was Nicole Brown. The Laurel Point Inn is one of Pete’s favourites – it has beautiful well lit rooms and reception area overlooking the inner harbour. Pete and Nicole spent the late morning photographing both Chantal with her bridesmaids and Truon with his best men. The spiral staircase inside the bridal suite was ideal for photographing Chantal on. The day was planned to enable Pete and Nicole to photograph Chantal & Truon before the ceremony due to the limited light after the ceremony. The ceremony was spectacular; with guests from many parts of the world. Chantal was walked dow the isle by her Dad who gave her away to a very happy looking Truon! The ceremony was held outside and had Victoria’s scenic Inner Harbour as a backdrop. After the ceremony Pete photographed the families and guests before they went into the reception. The reception was a joyous occasion with lots of fun, speeches and dancing. Pete and Nicole both wish Chantal and Truon a very long and happy life together her in Victoria and are grateful that they selected us for their wedding photography.

Christine & Wayne’s Wedding Photography at The Oak Bay Beach Hotel, Victoria, BC

The wedding photography for Wayne and Christine was by Pete Snell Photography. Wayne and Christine travelled over from the lower mainland for their destination wedding at The Oak Bay Beach Hotel on September 28th, 2013. The day of Wayne and Christine’s wedding was wet – pouring with rain which didn’t deter Wayne and Christine from going outside after their ceremony for a few family photo’s. Wayne and Christine’s close friends and family came from both Victoria and other parts of Canada to witness their marriage. Christine’s two son’s walked her down the Isle and gave her away to a very happy Wayne. After the ceremony the Oak Bay Beach Hotel served a wonderful buffet lunch for Wayne and  Christine’s guests; everyone thought the food was excellent. Speeches were given during the buffet lunch. After the speeches Christine and Wayne cut their wedding cake, which was served by the catering staff.  Wayne and Christine hosted  a smaller “after glow” reception in their private quarters after most of their wedding guests had departed. This was a wonderful wedding and Pete wishes Wayne and Christine and long and happy life together and thank them for picking him for their wedding photography.

Wedding Photography at Shelter Point Distillery, Campbell River, BC

Kaitlin & Cory’s wedding was on September 21st, 2013 at the Shelter Point Distillery which is located near the Oyster River half way between Courtney and Campbell River. Wedding Photography was by Pete Snell. During the morning Pete went to Kaitlin’s parents beautiful home in Campbell River and captured a few nice images Kaitlin’s wedding dress, rings, and  of Kaitlin getting ready with her mother, sisters and bridesmaids. The ladies were clearly having lots of fun preparing for Kaitlin and Cory’s “big day”.  The ceremony was overlooking the pacific ocean and next to a lovely treed area approximately half a kilometer behind the Shelter Point Distillery. The family had a tent installed in case of rain but fortunately the sun shone for this beautiful young couple. The ceremony was an emotional one for Kaitlin and Cory’s families; after the ceremony the families enjoyed some  champagne and happy conversation in the afternoon sun behind ceremony site area. Pete then photographed the family formals, bridal party  and some romantic shots of the bride and groom near the ceremony site and back near the main distillery. The reception was inside the distillery where the large copper coloured vats of both whiskey and vodka border the seating area. Pete photographed the formal speeches made by friends and family on both sides of the family. Kaitlin and Cory’s wedding photography was such fun and Pete felt honoured to have been chosen to be Kaitlin and Cory’s wedding photographer.  Pete wishes Kaitlin and Cory a long and happy life together.

Cinder and Collin’s Destination Wedding  at Mount Washington, British Columbia on August 31st, 2013

Cinder and Collin along with their friends, family and destination wedding photographer Pete Snell, left Victoria, BC on Saturday, August 30th and drove to Mount Washington’s Ski Resort, forCinder and Collin’s wedding. Guests and family stayed in the various lodges at the top of the mountain. Collin’s parents hosted a reception for guests at their beautiful home just north of Mount Washington. I was invited to this and had the pleasure of acquainting myself with the couples friends and relatives.

The wedding ceremony was at 12 noon on Saturday 31st August at Raven Lodge which is set in a beautiful mountain setting high on Mount Washington. Immediately following the ceremony horderves were served outside of the lodge followed by group and family photo’s. The bridal party, parents then drove to the ski resort and took the ski lifts to the top of the mountain for an adventurous photo-shoot. I was able to get lots of creative photo’s ascending the mountain and at the top of the mountain.

Just prior to the reception I photographed Cinder & Collin’sChinese Tea Ceremony. The reception followed at 5pm with speeches, first dance and of course a wonderful meal. I wish this a couple a long and happy life together. It was a pleasure and privilege to be part of Cinder & Collin’s wedding day!

Just before Karen was ready to leave The Westin Bear Mountain Pete slipped away so he was on site at Karen and Jamie’s home and ready to capture Karen’s arrival with her side of the bridal party.  James was anxiously waiting Karen’s arrival with his groomsmen. The guests were seated in the back garden under a large tent. The ceremony was higher up on a strip of land that was placed between the tent and the house. After the ceremony, family formal wedding photography at the house, Pete and the bridal party left and went to Mary’s Farmhouse  at near Goldstream for some fun bridal party photography which included shots with some of Mary’s horses. Dinner , speeches, fun and dancing followed until later in the evening. This was a wonderful wedding and I know that Karen and James will have a wonderful life together.

Wedding Photography for Janice & Jackie at Westin Bear Mountain Resort, Victoria, British Columbia.

On August 18th, 2013 Janice and Jackie were married at the Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort and Spa, Langford, British Columbia. This was a very elegant wedding; the wedding photography was by Pete Snell. Janice and Jackie decided on a  ” First Look” in the morning followed by their photo-shoot at the top of Bear Mountain at the Len Berry Mansion. The mansion has stunning views and looks out over Victoria. The weather was misty damp at the top of the mountain but later cleared and turned into a beautiful sunny Victoria day. After the photo-shoot the couple took a break and got ready for their afternoon ceremony which was outside in the “wedding circle”. The ceremony was officiated by Marriage Commissioner  Ian Hooey. Ian did a fantastic job incorporating a little lightheartedness into the ceremony. Following the ceremony the families enjoyed cocktails then the traditional chinese “tea ceremony”. Janice and Jackie’s reception at Bear Mountain was of course outstanding, elegant and well attended. During the course of the evening Janice changed into a number of colourful traditional chinese gowns and her evening dress.Wedding Photography was a lot of fun for Pete given the beautiful gowns that Janice wore so elegantly. Pete was very impressed by the professionalism of Heather Reece the conference Services Manage at Bear Mountain and by Paris Bunker from Sweet Beginnings who was Janis’s Wedding Planner. My best wishes to Janice and Jackie in their future lives together. ceremony circle bear mountain

Jessilee & Eric’s Wedding Photography at Tigh-Na-Mara, Parksville, BC

On August 17th 2013, Pete Snell of Pete Snell Photography and his assistant Kristin drove to Tign-Na-Mara, Seaside Resort in beautiful Parksville, British Columbia for Jessilee & Eric’s Wedding Photography.

Jessilee and Eric’s wedding ceremony was held in the resort Gazebo which overlooks the beach; a very beautiful backdrop. The ceremony was attended by many friends and family of this lovely young couple. There were a few concerns that we may encounter rain but once again the weatherman was wrong! Jessilee wore a beautiful white dress and looked stunning for her big day. It turned into a great day for wedding photography!

After the ceremony friends, family and bridal party left Tigh-Na-Mara altogether on a full sized bus which the couple had rented and went to Rathtrevor Provincial Park for the family formal photographs and a few fun shots.  After this portion of the photoshoot everyone was returned to the resort on the bus and we went over too Madrona Point for a spectacular photoshoot amongst some amazing rock formations and ocean vistas. Everyone had a lot of fun including Kristin and myself. On the drive back to the resort we managed to get a couple of group shots near some interesting wooden structures.

The bridal party and couples Grande Entrance into the resort ballroom was of course animated and fun. Tign – Na -Mara staff were excellent and the dinner first rate ( I love roast beef and Yorkshire pudding). After speeches, cutting the cake and the coupes first dance Pete and Kristin headed home to Victoria feeling like they’d made new friends and had a great day of wedding photography.

We wish this couple a wonderful marriage!

Liana and Ben’s Mayne Island , BC , Wedding Photography

Wedding Photography for Liana and Ben’s Mayne Island , British Columbia.

On August 10th, 2013 Pete Snell caught the ferry over to beautiful Mayne Island from Swartz Bay for Liana and Ben’s wedding photography. Mayne Island is located in the southern Gulf Islands and is a very piscturesque Island with a small small residential population. Liana had been visiting the Island throughout her life as her parents have a cottage on the Island; of course she is very attached to Mayne Island, it’s scenic locations and friendly residents.

Pete went to the waterfront house where Liana and her bridesmaids were getting ready to capture a few images then preceded the bridal party the beautiful St. Mary Magdalene Church, which is located on Georgina Point Road. Liana looked stunningly beautiful in her white dress and the bridesmaids dresses, an off green colour were also very attractive.

The ceremony was unique as it was officiated by Ben’s father who is also minister on the Lower Main Land. After the ceremony and the formal family photo session Pete and the bridal party went to the Mayne Island lighthouse area where we shot some fun bridal party photo’s then some lovely portraits of Liana and Ben in the forest and on the rock formations with ocean backdrops.

After the Photo shoot was complete Pete was very touched when both Liana and Ben gave him a hug for his work. Pete felt privileged to have met this young couple, to have been chosen for their wedding photography. Pete wishes this young couple a long and happy life together.
